Ulster Volunteer Force plot to accuse a popular Irish cabaret band for terrorist activity 1975 AD |
Summary: Five members of the band, returning home from a performance, were stopped by a fake checkpoint about 2 AM. While band members were standing on the roadside being questioned, 2 UVF members attempted to hide a bomb under the driver's seat of the band's minibus. The intent was for the bomb to explode later, killing all the occupants and potentially others, making it appear the band were IRA bomb-smugglers, thus justifying tighter border controls to restrict the IRA. But careless handling caused the bomb to explode, instantly killing the 2 UVF bomb handlers. Pandemonium ensued and the band members were gunned down to eliminate all witnesses to the event. Three musicians were killed; two survived by playing dead. Within hours of the massacre, the UVF released a fabricated false-flag report, blaming the innocent, unarmed band members of terrorism activities which allegedly justified their killing.
